Dr. Smith is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology and has completed extensive training in the diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the esophagus, stomach, small intestine, colon, liver and gallbladder. He has been in private practice since 1989 and associated with Digestive Disease Specialists, Inc., since 1994.
Dr. Smith is widely respected in his field. A native of Frederick, Oklahoma, Dr. Smith received his undergraduate degree from Oklahoma State University in Stillwater and his medical degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine, graduating with honors. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine and his clinical fellowship in Gastroenterology at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. Dr. Smith previously served as Chief of Gastroenterology at Integris Baptist Medical Center, and is a member of several professional associations including the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Gastroenterological Association, the Arkansas/Oklahoma Endoscopy Society, and the American and Oklahoma State Medical Associations. He has also published research article in professional journals.
